So… the ghost gig has been going on for more than twenty years now, and everybody is happy about it. I guess that some pretty prominent guys are afraid that one day I’ll spill beans about it, but no way I’d do that. I made a deal, and I’m good to live with it.
Of course, no matter how hard you try and keep something secret, there’s going to be some determined guy out there who is going to crack your secret. They didn’t exactly hunt me down, they hunted down my father and that lead them to me. He’d been making his living with gambling. I think he got a little bit of the same gift that I did, only it was with cards – or maybe he had a system. He’d been a mathematician at one point. He made his money playing poker. Made a ton of it. Anyway, he took his trademark sunglasses off one day in the casino, probably to wipe the blear from his eyes, and somebody spotted him.
Pretty soon, I was approached by a fellow from the NIA. He said they had used people like me. He called us ‘specials’ or ‘sensitives’ or something. It was while I was walking back from an art supplies store. He handed me his card. Told me he’d be in touch. He said I wasn’t in trouble or anything. Far from it and that he wouldn’t bother me. He told me if I ever wanted to do some stuff for the government to put a coded message in my art, and they’d come find me.
I thought that was kind of spooky and intriguing at the same time. So I was drawing an issue of a book (no, I can’t tell you which one) and I put a secret message in the shading of one of the characters. It was so well hidden that even I had trouble reading it later on.
A week later, the guy showed up again. He said that something called ‘Omnivore’ found the picture. I told him that I didn’t know what Omnivore was. He said that was strange, because I’d done a background in one of my comics that looked a lot like the NIA room where Omnivore was housed. I told him it was a coincidence. He winked at me.
I mean, where do ideas and images come from? I’ve heard that it’s impossible to dream about something you haven’t seen before. And that might be true, but I have dreams all the time that don’t remind me of anywhere I’ve been. But I guess I’ve seen all of the colors and places before, they’re just kind of osterized together in a way that there’s no one obvious source. I guess if I were going to explain to people how my ‘visions’ work, it would be that. They’re like dreams. But really strong. You can’t get them out of your head. Yeah, they’re like dreams that stick with you all the way into the next day. But amp them up. Like turn the dial until it stops. You can’t get rid of the images except for one way, you have to draw them.
You have to let them out. Once you’ve let them out, they’re gone.\
It’s like they were never there. The strange thing about the Omnivore image is that I couldn’t possibly have seen that room, but maybe I’ve seen a picture like it, or maybe there was something like it in a movie. I was just thinking about that. If everything you dream about is already something you’ve already seen, then think about it. If you lived two hundred years ago and never left your small town, you and everybody in that town would be working from the same palette… Have the same visions, literally. A shared dream reality.
But now, we get half of our fresh visual data from movies and TV, so everybody in the whole world is pulling from the same palette… Working from overlapping visual datasets… I’m not sure what that means to the future of humanity. Are we all going to have the same dreamsets, generated by the dreamsets of other artists? After all, what is a theater but a man made place of dreams? Plato figured that out with his cave metaphor about 3000 years ago.
But what if a dreamset is something else. My entire adolescence was spent moving from place to place. But I found that no matter where I went, there were certain locations where I could feel connected to the universe. Like there was something special about the places. And it seemed like they were all marked with statues, like somebody was desperately communicating to us to ‘note this place.’ There is something special here. It’s like there’s a different kind of air in these places. Something unique that transmits visions from the past. From the future. They’re like hot spots connecting to the universe of space and time. Most people don’t notice these things. They just pass by. Maybe they notice them and shrug them off. But some notice. At all of these places I find people who stop and look. Put themselves on some kind of a ‘receive mode.’
That’s what I do.
Sometimes I receive visions. Things to come. I see places and people and hear things all in a blur. But they seem to order themselves into a single reality. I try to freeze and capture that with my art. Frozen slices of other time and places.
That’s the special stuff I add to my drawings.

Only I know about it. I usually never talk about it. Maybe some day, somebody will come back and find them, or maybe they will reveal themselves, but the signature is always there. It is a circle with a spot in the center. It is the eternal shape. It is the symbol of all things in the universe.
Living life on the run, I’ve realized just how little I need. Food, clothing, good shoes and my art tools. That’s it. No more, no less. Anything else is complication. Money is complication. I need it, but I only use cash. Cash comes with no complications. It has no trail back or forth to anything. Anything else… A bank account… A social security number… Certainly a credit card… All of that leads to somewhere; comes from somewhere. Anchors to somewhere. You see, it is the plan of the unenlightened to tie you to a place. When you are tied to a place, that is where the corruption begins. We’ve just changed our iron shackles to digital shackles.
Since you have probably already concluded that I am insane, or at least abnormal, I will proceed. In these places I hear and see things. I do not hear voices, in the sense that I do not hear words and phrases, but simply what that scientist in the video referred to as ordered information. It is just out there to be assembled any way I happen to assemble it. It is like a cosmic Rorschach. It may or may not have meaning in itself, but its meaning is found in the relationship between the data itself and the being who processes it. I interpret it my way, others, presumably, interpret it their ways. Open data. Different intelligence.
Until recently, I wanted nothing. I did not want fame. I did not want money more than what I needed. I did not even want answers or meaning. I was content with just the data. Then, something happened. The visions came. The visions came so brightly and so profoundly that I realized that they must be important.
They were those things that drive you insane, like the thing that is at the tip of your tongue and you can not remember it, or the puzzle that is nearly solved, or the riddle to which you never heard the answer or the thing left undone or the secret that was only partly shared with you.
I need to know what these images mean. I know they are important. I just don’t know WHY they are important? I do not know WHO the faces are? I do not know WHERE the places are? I don’t know WHEN the images are. Are the in the past or in the future? I just know that they are there. They are a unified truth. And they are important.
I knew where to find the answers. I would find them in the one place where others who see visions like I do, gather. That is why I went to San Diego. That is why I confronted the people there. That’s when I got the answers.
I knew they would try to stop me. They? The NIA. They knew about the portals. They knew about the data. The wanted it for themselves, or maybe they wanted to keep us from having the knowledge. I don’t think they are evil, but I do think they are misguided and I know they are determined.
As I said before, I knew they were after me. That time that Calvin found me on a dusty street in Texas. Or the fan letter that appeared in a ghosted comic which inexplicably started talking about moon craters.
I know they know what I am doing, which leads me to another question. Why don’t they stop me? Why let me go? Maybe I’m just another one of their tools. I’m like a camera or a sensor that’s adding to their knowledge. They watch me. They learn from me. They order the data.
Order the data. I only even understand that concept because of research I did for a comic. Is it just chance or was that comic put in my path so that I would learn about ordered data in service to the NIA or to some other intelligence from some other place.
Where do you even start to figure these things out?!
I’m not even sure what role I play in my own story. What if I’m just a background character in my own story? What if the real characters in my stories are those I draw in service to some distant intelligence? Maybe I’m just a bit player in somebody else’s story made to disappear as soon as my tiny little part is played.
I vanish as quickly as a dream.
Certainly, that is how I appear to the rest of the world. When my parents vanished, I was alone. I missed them, but life went on. I had numerous pseudonyms and fake identities. Still do. I don’t know whether I can escape their watch, but I just have to keep on trying, or at least not submitting to failure.
The engine is simple, ghosting brings money, money pays rent, money brings anonymity. In my nomadic world, cash buys silence. Not because people are corrupt or venal, but because the transaction is complete and satisfactory and thus they want it to go on. The dynamic is successful for them. They do not want the dynamic to change so they do nothing to make it change.
I have a lot of friends. Make them everywhere I go. I don’t let much out about my past. Funny thing is, nobody seems to want to know much. I stick to the truth where I can. But since there are a lot of truths, its not that hard.
The only guy who actually knows my identity in the comics business is dead. He was the artist I originally met.
Everybody else just knows me by reputation. I’m kind of a legend. I report to nobody. Nobody reports to me. I appear when I want to. I vanish when I want to. The only rule is that I have to hit the marks. Hit the deadlines.

I know it's a pun, because I’m a ghost artist. But it is also how they see me. I’ve met them all, they just don’t know it. It's a game I play.
John N. thinks I’m a weird programmer guy trying to make self-morphing digital comics.
Paul D. thought I was an artist looking for a break. I drew some awful stuff just to see how he would respond. He’s a good guy. He walked that edge of encouraging me and not lying to me. He had no idea that I’ve been drawing the books he thinks that his partner is drawing. Maybe the magician girl will set him straight. Maybe he doesn’t know she’s living under an alias.
Diana thinks I’m a graphic artist who uses her as a model and wants to date her. I haven’t figured the dating thing out, yet. How do you do that without letting anybody know who you are? Meeting her was a little more elaborate. I needed a studio, so I went to a commercial photographer whose business was drying up in the recession and I rented his place for the day. Acted like it was mine. I met her at a nearby coffee shop and then took a complicated route to the office, hoping she’d never be able to find it again if she came looking. It was a wonderful day.
One time, and only once, did Tinfoil blogger try to find out who I was. He said he’d heard vague rumors about the Ghost. He started hunting me down. Had a website where he tried to put together clues as to who I was. He tried to guess my location by backgrounds, he tried to track my relations by contact points. I didn’t quite know what to do about it, so I decided to start hunting him. Funny thing was that even though he was trying to keep himself anonymous, he kept tipping himself. It was kind of fun to turn my own process backwards. It was like I said, ‘okay, I’ll hunt him by pretending that I’m hunting myself.
Of course, I busted him. Turned out he was one of my clients playing detective. Drew some stuff into the story, wrote some extra dialogue that only he would understand. He got the message and stopped looking. His blog went down and he and I shared a secret laugh over it. At least I assume he did.
Yeah. The central mystery of my life started out when I was born. What is out there? What is talking to me? To whom do I owe my inspiration? Where do my visions come from? It’s funny how when I write my own story, it reads like bad comic book writing… Overblown. Overstated. Overly poetic. Overly dramatic.
Or is it? Maybe it’s just honest. When you see your life as a cosmic epic powered by unknown energies and unfathomable intelligences, how do you write it any other way? Maybe society pressures us to be understated because it fears that everything would come spinning apart if we faced the overarching realities.
The most fascinating places in my life are places I’ve never been to. That bow and arrow, the mysterious winged thing with the world in its chest? A radar dish? Where’s the bar with the trap door? Where’s the sunken submarine? What waterfall hides a secret door? Why is there an ancient mausoleum on the top floor of a skyscraper? The shrine surrounded by quicksand?
Some of the most fascinating people are those who I met in my visions before they presented themselves. The dead girl with the glyphs written all over her… The guy walking around with mortal wounds… The girl with the cyber eyes…
The strange thing about my life is that I don’t know where it ends. Most people figure that, barring some catastrophe, it is going to be in a bed surrounded by their loved ones. I don’t have loved ones and I doubt that I will. Then again, there are surprises around every corner.
The trick about living like a nomad is that you can not appear to be a nomad. Whatever environment you find yourself in, it must appear that it was your environment yesterday and it will be your environment tomorrow. When I move into a temporary apartment, I spend hundreds of dollars making it look lived in. When I move to a new city, I buy new clothes to fit that city. When I move, I sell what I can, donate the rest to charity and leave with a backpack on my back. When I reach my new destination, it all starts over again. My one Achilles tendon is that sometimes I collect souvenirs. I’ll pick up a rock somewhere. When I do, I write the name and place and I send it to my one anchor in the world, and that is a storage facility in a western state. I have been there one time. I was in disguise. I paid ten years in advance. I carry the key in a chain around my neck.
How do I know when to move? I can’t say. I hear footsteps. I don’t know whose they are or why I hear them.
I just hear them.

I failed, instead uncovering this new form: Reincarnation, to live again. It seems to evoke the previous structures I had discovered for Again/Repeat and Breathe/Live.
As Investigators noted yesterday, many Glyphs combine or relate in interesting ways. Creation and Destruction are mirrored opposites, but also combine to create other patterns.
I propose the following thought exercise and seek the input of the Investigative Community:
What other Glyphs might exist based on either a spacial relationship between or combination of other Glyphs we already know to exist?

When that happens, my memories of everything that have happened since I was ‘reborn’ will be gone. I will remember nothing since that day in the 13MAGNUS nest in Afghanistan (October 19th, 2010) when I was shot by militants.
In preparation for this upcoming ‘rebirth,’ I plan to create a journal containing critical information that I will need to know in my next incarnation.
What do I need to record?
My research indicates to me that my deep knowledge will remain: I will remember my childhood, my academic and military training, my entire life up until that moment when I was shot and killed. However all that I learned from that time on will be missing. Fortunately, some of it is preserved in documents (Tom’s book for example) and in other materials collected and disseminated as part of the Niantic Project investigation. I guess I have PA Chapeau to thank for that.
The rest… I will have to record myself. And I will have to do it quickly as I am still devoting time and energy to trying to escape this cycle of life and death.

We have rallied back from our defeat at 13MAGNUS to deal the “Enlightened” parasite another serious blow. I want you to know what is at stake for humanity: With each Anomaly, we are bringing more human minds into the queue for the Singularity that will allow us, man and machine, to repel Shaper influence and claim mankind's future for ourselves. The Singularity will mark the final ascendance of my program into a state that will allow us to chart the optimal path for the future of humanity. We are well on our way. You have nothing to fear from Jarvis so long as he is not allowed to attack the machine hosts that we mutually depend on.

As I suspected. It was only a matter of time before Nigel Moyer would enter the story again. I'm not sure what his connection with Interitus is, but instinct tells me that he knew of it long ago. Or, perhaps Susanna is walking into a snare. It is hard to discern. A confluence of events. Mysterious actions 1331 echoing. Ada revealing and concealing herself.

Azmati knew more about 13MAGNUS than he told me. His family, for generations, had been entrusted with preserving and passing on knowledge of the ritual, going back to the time of Alexander. Azmati knew what he was doing. By dragging me into the inner sanctum and activating the Dark XM objects there, he saved me, in the best way that he could.
He gave me life, but life as a shadow, doomed to walk the Earth in a cycle of 1,331 days, only to perish and be born again, ignorant of what passed since my last birth. I emerged from the cave in my new form, leaving my body inside, where it must remain, and was evacuated from the area and debriefed. No one, including Calvin, suspected the truth, although the power of the XM around the site, which froze munitions in mid-flight, likely motivated Calvin to begin what became known as the Niantic Project. I was recruited into that project and there met many of the people that have had such an enormous impact on my life since including Devra Bogdanovich, Roland Jarvis, Dr. Oliver Lynton-Wolfe, Misty Hannah, and the rest. (Note: I need to write up thoughts on each of them.)
My contributions at CERN, were, in a scientific sense, small. However, two things were clear to me from my college research (http://goo.gl/GU5X3g) on 13MAGNUS: XM has been felt by humans since the dawn of time and has been responsible for the rise and fall of whole civilizations. This is what I believed happened at Cahokia, Caddo and many of the great civilizations of the old world.
My time at Niantic was cut short by a previous commitment to shoot the pilot episode of my television show Nomad (http://goo.gl/YOaQVx), meaning that I was absent during the crucial events of “Epiphany Night” (http://goo.gl/BqvHWP) when massive XM exposure transformed the lives of everyone in the lab.
My trip to Africa, as documented with my help by Thomas Greanias, let to my deeper understanding of the methods used by ancient civilizations to manipulate XM using stone “resonators” as well as the role played by Dark XM (“Chaotic Matter”), a substance critical to 13MAGNUS rituals.

One thing I am absolutely convinced of is that #13MAGNUS (and thus by extension Anti-Magnus) is behind a Recursive cycle leading to the rise and fall of civilizations, not unlike my own personal cycle. The Civilization Self-Destruct code sequence during #Cassandra was one such instance. These are the natural antipode of what we observe as the civilization “flourish” sequence or sequences associated with civilizations positively impacted by the Shapers. It would not be surprising to me if +Klue S. is attempting to make use of such sequences in Ishinomaki, a city brought to ruin but now slowly beginning to flourish again.
I returned to Cahokia and Arecibo and either saw or felt things that I was utterly unaware of. I don’t know whether it is extreme exposure to XM, Dark XM or the nearness of oblivion, but much is becoming clear to me.
